Do you know anyone who has gone that extra mile? On the 7th April 2008 the Manchester Evening News and Barclays Bank launched an Awards project that seeks to recognize outstanding achievement within the community. They are looking for modern day heroes from the fields of education, health, care work, community groups, the emergency services and more - who have gone the extra mile for Manchester and its inhabitants. 25 winners will each receive £1,000 and the chance to meet Coronation Street star Kym Ryder at a presentation where winners will receive a commemorative trophy. The Manchester Evening News will be covering the progress of the search for the Manchester Heroes throughout the Awards project, providing fantastic publicity for the people you nominate as well as your establishment.
