APPEAL FOR HELP FROM STOP THE WAR COALITION
Volunteer to steward the Stop the War demonstration on 20th Sept
The stewards job is to work as a team to ensure our demonstration is effective in getting our message across, unites all part of the coalition, and is peaceful in purpose and conduct.
Stewards meet up before hand so we all know the collective plan for the day.
Meet 6pm Friday 19th Sept at Friends Meeting House, Mount St.
On Saturday morning 11am before the demo starts.
(at the Park Gates on Oxford Rd Side)
We wear hi visibility jackets, work together as a team, the chief steward liaises with the police.
It is important that the front of the demo presents our message clearly, on the march people know what is happening, and people know where to go. Stewards march as part of the demo and ensure everyone knows what is happening.
We also need stewards for the Castle Field Arena where the stage and PA are located.
Steward duties end when the rally has ended and people dispersed, at the very latest 5pm (if necessary Muslim Stewards may leave after demo ends to prepare for the breaking of the fast)
Stop the War demonstrations have always been marshaled by ourselves. On all the London and Manchester demonstrations our stewards - not the Police - have been the main interface with those on the demonstration.
We need to ensure that the 20th September demonstration sets the same tone that people have come to expect from stop the war. In order to achieve this we need a 100 stewards.

We have experienced stewards after all the demonstrations, but new people are welcome and needed! Lastly it is a good experience, shaping this important march against the spread of war in
an ever dangerous world.
