moby dick (Unregistered User) What with all the regeneration and bustle of activity do you think that Manchester can set itself to be the next California (without the weather of course!)?
Also do you think it can do this without sacrificing the vulnerable section of society? (i.e. the less well off)
Different views and opinions would be appreciated.

Well it seems like the people of Manchester have no opinion on this matter.
Well I frankly am not surprised that like sheeps to the slaughter we agree to whatever development takes place as long as the current situation is improved i.e better houses/less crime. However we forget that the situation got this bad because the current people in charge of the council have let it become to this state. Their solution to their own mistakes, get the private industry in to make some money and clean up the mess. The real losers are the people who cannot afford to continue with the lifestyles and thus moved out or kicked out(quoting rent arrears as an excuse) and the affluent people move in.
What people tend to forget is that this is just a vicious cycle and soon the newly build estates then become neglected and run down estates. Thus we continue with the newly changed face of Manchester
