VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - Are You A Carpenter Or Woodworker?

Green Machine is a new volunteering scheme made up from a number of youth led volunteering projects for young people aged 16-25 years, focusing on environmental issues. The project workers, Alia and Matt and looking for a bank of skilled carpenters and woodworkers who could volunteer to be involved with projects, as and when needed. Ideally we would like volunteers to support us with the following projects.

Project 1:
Working with a group of ten young men to build a picnic bench. A carpenter would be needed to teach the young people how to build the bench. The volunteer would also need to be able to pass on their skills to the young people by demonstration and example. The young people would hope to build the table within two days. The Green Machine workers, Alia and Matt would be supporting the young people.

Project 2:
To create a seating area on a small allotment using reclaimed wood and carving techniques. The young people are keen to have a seating area on their allotment so that they can take a break from the work. However they want this area to be as natural as possible, and like the idea of carving seats from a chunk of wood. The wood worker would need to work with the young people to teach them the skills by demonstration and example. This piece of work could take place over a period of time, there is no time scale to it.
