Description

Project Development Worker (Macmillan Solutions) : Fixed-term to 31/12/2011
Manchester (Home-Based)
£14,000-£15,000 pa (pro-rata of £28,000-£30,000 pa for a 17.25 hour week) + Benefits

All over the UK, Macmillan's services offer a vital support network and are a force for positive change. We work with other organisations to make improvements happen and, in this role, you will support the Project Manager for Manchester in developing a diverse network of partner organisations within the city. Macmillan Solutions will co-ordinate practical, emotional and financial solutions for people affected by cancer. You will support volunteers and partner organisations in developing their capacity and infrastructure in order to provide the Macmillan Solutions service to their local community.

The work requires a real understanding of the importance of the work of volunteers and a partnership approach as well as a passion for community development. Your track record will reflect your experience of these, as well as the confidence to work independently, the inclusiveness of approach that supports a non-directive and participative way of working, and the flexibility and empathy to contribute effectively as part of a team.

In addition, you will have strong IT skills and demonstrate the sort of organisational skills that assure objectives are met – whatever the pressures of multiple priorities and deadlines. Your knowledge of how the NHS, statutory and voluntary sectors are developing and changing will be invaluable

You must have access to your own vehicle (business mileage will be reimbursed) and you will - on occasion and with advance notice - be required to work outside of normal office hours and away from your normal office base (including some overnight stays).

If you would like to discuss this opportunity further please contact Karen Scott, Project Manager for Manchester on 01274-621 486

Please note that due to an inaccuracy, the salary has been amended to £14,000 – £15,000 pa (pro-rata of £28,000 - £30,000 pa for a 17.25 hour week), and the closing and interview dates rescheduled accordingly.

Interview Date: 24 Nov 2009 (in Warrington)
We value diversity in our workforce and we encourage applications from all sectors of the community.
