There are several ways you can use the myManchester site to find out about an organisation.
A. By Category
1. Click on Directory.
2. Click on the category that you think the organisation might be filed under, e.g. Community.
3. The next page will display a list of sub-categories and also a list of some more general organisations.
4. If the organisation is not in the list displayed on this page, click on one of the sub-categories to see a further list of organisations.
5. Click on the name of the organisation to go to their website, or, if they do not have a website, to a brief description and contact details.
6. To return to the list click on the Back button in your browser.
B. By A-Z Listing
1. Click on Directory.
2. Click on A to Z Listing.
3. The first page of a list of all the organisations filled under A on the myManchester website will displayed.
4. Click on the first letter of the name of the organisation to bring up the list.
5. Page through the list using the Next button until you get to the organisation you want.
6. Click on the name of the organisation to go to their website, or if they do not have a website, to a brief description and contact details.
7. To return to the list click on the Back button in your browser.
C. By using the Search Facility
1. Click on Advanced Search.
2. Type all or part of the name of the organisation (e.g. national trust) OR type in a keyword (countryside). Please note you must use whole words.
3. Click in the Directory box – a tick should appear.
4. Click on Go.
5. A list of organisations will be be displayed.
6. Click on the name of the organisation to go to their website, or if they do not have a website, to a brief description and contact details.
7. To return to the list click on the Back button in your browser. (If you get a message asking you to resend the date click on OK).
1. Click on Directory.
2. Click on Suggest a Site.
3. Fill in the form as follows:
Website: type in the address of the website, including http://, e.g. http://www.mcin.net
Comments: type in the name of the website and why you think it should be included in the myManchester website.
4. When you are happy with the information you have given click on Suggest a Site.
5. You will then be asked to answer a simple arithmetic question. This is to stop spam site suggestions.
6. Type the answer in the box and click on submit.
7. You will get a thank you message. If you have included an email address in your comments we will email to let you know whether we have accepted your suggested website.
